Pareglio & Ayres Antiques Interiors has dated this Italian Folk Art Footstool to the 19th Century.
The base is raised on sturdy, ring-turned legs supported by heavy square corner blocks.

It is a beautifully tactile, unpretentious example of regional Italian vernacular furniture that works perfectly today as a fireplace stool, low display stand, or accent bench.
The stool is structurally sound, stable, and ready for use. It displays a wealth of genuine age-related wear, including small dents, pinholes, and rubbed edges. There is a natural, historic age crack in the top timber plank running alongside the handhold, which is completely stable and does not affect its structural strength. The underside shows the evidence of being handled for generations of carry use.
