This large nineteenth-century French stool stands low to the floor on short turned wooden legs finished with small metal castors. The deep green velvet upholstery covers the entire square top and wraps down the low sides, held in place by a continuous border of small brass studs. Light wear marks show on the velvet surface, and the wood of the legs has a warm brown polished finish. Measuring 36 cm high, 89 cm wide and 72 cm deep, the piece functions well in a living room as a footstool, extra low seating, or as a side table with a tray placed on top.
