This Rene Lalique open anemone flower paperweight dates from 1930 in the Art Deco style, formed from frosted white and clear glass with black enamel. The piece takes the shape of an open flower head with deeply etched radiating petal textures, a central cluster of dark enamelled stamens, and a smooth curved clear glass stem extending from the back. A faintly stencilled signature appears on the surface, reading R Lalique France. Measuring 6 cm high and 11 cm wide, the item sits comfortably on an office desk or a study table to weigh down letters and documents while bringing a decorative sculptural accent to the workspace.

Art Deco glass paperweights from the 1930s frequently featured stylized botanical forms, geometric lines, and a combination of frosted and polished glass surfaces. Designers integrated pressed glass techniques with hand-finished enamelling to create functional desktop art.

Frosted glass figures were typically produced using moulding techniques where molten glass was pressed into master moulds. Acid-etching or sandblasting achieved the frosted satin texture, whilst black enamel detailing was applied by hand to emphasize contrasting features.

Authentic period pieces usually feature moulded or wheel-engraved signatures, precise clarity in the glass, and crisp mold lines. The finish exhibits a distinct satin-like texture without harsh seam lines or modern chemical residue.

Place the glass paperweight atop a stack of design books on a coffee table or arrange it alongside desk accessories in a home study. The translucent glass catches light effectively near natural light sources or under subtle spotlighting.

Clean frosted glass using lukewarm water mixed with mild soap, applying it gently with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or soaking pieces with enamel details to protect the delicate surface treatments.
