Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture, emerging in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric silhouettes, bold stepped forms, and the luxurious use of figured wood veneers.

Art Deco bookcases were frequently constructed using high-quality timber frame foundations wrapped in decorative veneers such as burr walnut, zebrawood, or mahogany, alongside glass panel doors and solid brass fittings.

Authentic pieces feature architectural geometry like stepped ziggurat crowns, original hand-applied grain veneers, vintage brass lock plates, and period glass cutting techniques.

Place the piece against a neutral wall to highlight its rich timber grain, filling the shelves with curated volumes, ceramic pottery, and minimalist glass objects.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the wood grain to nourish the veneer and preserve its lustre.
