Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian revolving bookcase dates from 1910 and belongs in a gentleman's library. The piece uses oak, iron, and brass materials with a dark brown finish. Two books lie flat on top, and multiple upright books sit within the two tiers, which display vertical slats on each side. The structure includes a folding reading stand and rests on a four-star base with castors. Three visible details not mentioned in the dealer's text are the dark wood grain of the timber, the rounded wooden edges of the lectern support, and the black metal hinges on the adjustable reading stand. The bookcase measures 91.5 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 54 cm deep. Place this item in an empty corner of a study or home library to hold reference volumes and keep current reading material close at hand. The revolving mechanism allows easy access to texts from any angle. The adjustable lectern provides a comfortable surface for reading heavy books while standing or sitting nearby.

Revolving bookcases emerged in the late nineteenth century to optimise library storage, allowing access to multiple volumes within a compact footprint.

Traditional pieces are constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or mahogany, fitted with cast iron central rotating mechanisms and brass castors.

Authentic period examples feature heavy cast iron central mechanisms, solid timber slatted sides, dovetailed joinery, and original metal castors.

Place the unit alongside an armchair in a living area or study to function as both an occasional side table and accessible book storage.

Dust the timber regularly, apply a clear beeswax polish periodically, and ensure the central revolving mechanism remains lubricated and free of debris.
