This Victorian decorative bowl originates from the 1900 period and fits comfortably into an English Country House aesthetic. Shaped from cranberry glass with a deep pink colouration, the piece exhibits a translucent finish and catches the light against the surface below. The circular body displays a textured thumbprint pattern across the exterior walls, rising into a flared border that terminates in a crimped wavy rim with ruffled folds. The base rests upon a small circular foot on the wooden table surface. Measuring 10 cm high, 18.5 cm wide, and 18.5 cm deep, this small decorative vessel sits neatly on a deep window sill or a display cabinet shelf. It functions as a standalone decorative object or a small container for holding trinkets within living spaces.

Cranberry glass is a distinctive red-tinted glassware created by adding gold chloride to molten glass. Popularised in the nineteenth century, the technique produced vibrant shades ranging from light pink to deep ruby.

Craftspeople added pure gold salts to silica mixtures to achieve the pink coloration. Pieces were typically hand-blown or mould-blown, often featuring manipulated crimped or ruffled rims applied while the glass was still hot.

Authentic pieces generally display pontil marks on the base where the glassmakers rod was detached, slight variations in color depth, and hand-worked rim detailing rather than uniform machine-moulded edges.

Positioning glass pieces on a window sill or near natural light sources allows sunlight to filter through, illuminating the hue. They can also be displayed on neutral sideboards or open shelving to introduce warm tones.

Wash by hand using warm water and a mild liquid detergent with a soft cloth. Dishwashers and abrasive cleaning pads should be avoided to prevent surface dulling, scratching, or thermal shock.
