This Regency country house linen press dates from around 1830 and follows the grand Regency style. The piece uses flame mahogany with oak and pine, finished in a warm brown colour with a nicly patinated surface showing minor repairs. The upper section contains twin flame mahogany panel doors with a moulded cornice above, housing four original interior slides accessed via an original brass lock and key with a tassel. The lower section comprises a configuration of two smaller drawers over two full-width drawers, all fitted with original turned wooden knobs and supported on turned feet. The press splits into three sections for moving and measures 214 cm high, 132 cm wide, and 61 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this large storage item provides substantial linen or clothing organization in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. The warm timber tones and figured grain patterns add traditional presence and utility to interior spaces.

Originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, a Regency linen press is a two-part piece of bedroom furniture featuring a top cupboard with slide-out trays sitting above a chest of drawers.

These storage units were predominantly crafted with solid mahogany or oak carcasses, featuring rich flame mahogany veneers, pine drawer linings, and hand-cut dovetail joinery.

Authentic pieces from circa 1830 exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, hand-sawn dovetail joints in the drawer construction, original turned wooden handles, and natural oxidisation on unvarnished backboards.

A mahogany linen press acts as an architectural focal point in a hallway, bedroom, or dining space, offering practical concealed storage alongside modern textiles and neutral colour schemes.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and bright sunlight to prevent shrinkage, dusting regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and applying beeswax polish twice yearly.
