A Georgian bracket clock stands in dark brown mahogany with a chamfer stepped top, brass inlay, and a brass pineapple finial. The glazed convex dial displays Roman numerals, minute tracks, and the signature Taylor London. Brass star inlays decorate the corners alongside botanical brass mounts and stringing lines across the dark timber case. Brass ball feet support the rectangular body, which houses a twin fusee eight day movement striking on a bell accessed via a rear door, accompanied by winding keys. Measuring 51 cm in height, 28 cm in width, and 14 cm in depth, this timepiece works well on a mantelpiece or shelf within a study, library, or living room setting.

A Georgian bracket clock is a compact, spring-driven timekeeper produced in Great Britain during the reign of King George I through George IV (17141830). Originally designed to sit on a fitted wall bracket or table, these clocks feature decorative timber cases, often mahogany, trimmed with brass embellishments and fine horological movements.

Georgian bracket clocks typically feature primary cases crafted from solid and veneered mahogany or fruitwood, accented with cast brass inlay, feet, handles, and finials. The clock face is usually painted iron or engraved brass with convex glass door covers.

Authentic Georgian bracket clocks feature hand-engraved or hand-painted maker signatures on the dial or backplate, hand-cut brass gears, fusee movement mechanisms, and authentic signs of age such as natural brass oxidisation and fine patina on the woodwork.

Position the clock centrally on a stone or timber mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or within a gentlemans library bookcase. Pair it with neutral backdrops, brass accents, or framed monochrome artwork to complement its historic proportions.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent mahogany veneer from cracking or warping. Dust the casing with a soft microfibre cloth, apply beeswax sparingly to the wood once a year, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
