This Regency style footstool dates from the 1900 period and functions as a footstool or ottoman. The piece is constructed from mahogany, leather, and brass, and displays a chestnut brown colour with a hand-dyed finish. Details include deep buttoning, brass studding, and an X-frame base with curved legs joined by a turned stretcher, alongside brass nailhead trim along the base and corners. The footstool measures 46 cm high, 96.5 cm wide, and 61 cm deep, providing a practical seat for daily living areas. Suitable for placement in a gentleman's library, study, drawing room, dressing room, or positioned at the foot of the bed in a bedroom setting.

The deep-buttoned leather footstool evolved alongside Chesterfield furniture in nineteenth-century Britain, providing low-level support and secondary seating that complemented heavy armchair designs.

Traditional construction relies on full-grain leather hides hand-dyed for depth of tone, solid timber internal framing, brass stud detailing, and tied button tufting over padded upholstery.

Authentic hand-dyed leather displays multi-tonal colour variations rather than a uniform surface, natural hide graining, and individually applied brass upholstery studs around the perimeter.

A leather footstool functions as occasional seating, an elevated footrest, or, when paired with a flat wooden tray, a central coffee table alternative in a living area.

Dust the leather periodically with a soft dry cloth, keep the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying, and treat the hide with a specialised leather balm annually.
