Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 Danish mid-century modern cupboard is formed from warm brown oak with a visible natural grain throughout. The structured design incorporates two flush panel doors fitted with brass exposed hinges and a small metal handle set into the right door. Solid vertical plinth side supports lift the main cabinet off the ground, creating an elevated profile. The piece measures 71 cm high, 100 cm wide and 49 cm deep. Opening the front reveals a shelved interior with practical space for keeping belongings stored away. In a home today, this cupboard functions effectively in a living room, hallway or dining room for keeping tableware, linens or household items neatly arranged. The clean lines and understated appearance complement both vintage and contemporary interiors. The natural finish highlights the character of the timber while maintaining a simple and functional presence in the room.

FAQs

Danish Modern design emerged in the mid-20th century, focusing on minimalism, functional form, and fine woodworking. Pieces typically feature clean lines, unadorned surfaces, and high-quality hardwoods like oak, teak, or rosewood.

Vintage Danish cabinets are generally constructed using solid oak or high-grade oak veneers over sturdy timber cores. Construction techniques often incorporate dovetail joinery, precision-fitted panel doors, and minimal brass or wooden hardware.

Authentic pieces often display maker stamps or burn marks from Danish manufacturers on the underside or back panels. Look for proportional geometric balance, smooth door mechanisms, and natural timber grain without heavy artificial lacquers.

A low oak cupboard works well in a hallway, dining area, or living room as a streamlined storage solution. Placing modern ceramics, framed artwork, or subtle lighting on top creates a balanced contrast between contemporary and vintage elements.

Keep oak furniture away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent timber movement and fading. Clean surfaces with a soft dry cloth and apply a natural bees wax polish periodically to nourish the wood grain.
