Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era (19011910), tailored ladies attire often incorporated decorative silver belt buckles and matching buttons. These items were frequently sold in fitted velvet or silk-lined presentation cases as luxury gift sets.

Authentic items from this era were primarily crafted from solid sterling silver (925 fineness) or fine silver plate, using techniques such as casting, piercing, and repousse engraving. Presentation cases were constructed from wood or card covered in leatherette and lined with silk or plush velvet.

British sterling silver from 1902 carries a full set of official hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as the Chester coat of arms or Birmingham anchor), a specific date letter, and a makers mark.

These historical sets are commonly displayed open inside glazed shadow-box frames or arranged within velvet-lined glass tabletop vitrines to protect the silver while showcasing the metalwork.

Silver pieces should be gently wiped with a dry, soft silver-impregnated polishing cloth to remove tarnish. Liquid chemical dips and abrasive pastes should be avoided, as they can alter the intentional oxidisation in the recessed details.
