Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of early 20th-century Sheraton Revival bedside cabinets is made from golden honey satinwood with extensive hand-painted detailing. Each cabinet features a square gallery top with cut-out handles, a single cupboard door with a circular hand-painted classical figural medallion depicting a countryside scene, painted ribbon garlands along the sides, and slender square tapered legs. The timber displays warm golden tones with vertical grain patterns, complemented by multicoloured painted figures in red, blue, and green, alongside delicate marquetry inlay on the upright supports. Measuring 82 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 40 cm deep, these compact bedside cabinets suit placement beside a bed in a principal bedroom or guest suite within an English Country house interior. They offer enclosed bedside storage for nighttime essentials while adding a decorative classical motif to the bedroom scheme.

FAQs

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, British cabinetmakers revived 18th-century Sheraton designs, creating satinwood furniture decorated with hand-painted neoclassical motifs, classical medallions, and ribbon garlands.

These pieces feature satinwood veneers over solid hardwood framing, hand-dovetailed drawer and door joinery, gallery tops with cut-out handles, and hand-applied paintwork using oil or tempera pigments.

Authentic period examples display soft wood patina, subtle variations in hand-painted brushstrokes, traditional joinery techniques, and natural surface wear around handles, edges, and leg bases.

These compact cabinets serve as elegant nightstands flanking a bed, slender side tables beside a sofa, or decorative accent storage in narrow hallways and alcoves.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid exposure to direct sunlight or damp environments, and preserve unpainted wood sections with a light application of natural beeswax.
