Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Regency candelabra originates from the nineteenth century and exemplifies the ornate style of the period. Each piece combines gilt bronze and patinated metal components, presenting a striking contrast between the bright gold ormolu and the dark black central column shafts. Elaborate acanthus leaf motifs decorate the tripartite base with claw feet, while scrolled arms support four candle holders around a central nozzle. The design includes finely moulded foliage, fluted detailing, and classical ornamentation throughout the metalwork. Measuring 60 cm high, 16 cm wide, and 16 cm deep, these table pieces suit placement on a sideboard or console table in a dining room or drawing room. They add classical symmetry and rich metallic texture to surface displays, serving both decorative and functional roles during evening gatherings.

FAQs

Regency style candelabra feature neoclassical design elements inspired by ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, prominent during the early 19th century.

Authentic pieces were crafted from cast bronze or brass and coated with mercury-gilded gold finish, often integrated with dark patinated metals, marble, or slate column shafts.

Authentic antique ormolu exhibits heavy visual weight, hand-chased surface details, soft wear on high points, and casting seams or hand-threaded assembly underneath the base.

Position a pair symmetrically on a dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece to create visual balance and contrast against contemporary backdrop textures.

Dust regularly with a soft dry brush; avoid abrasive cleaners, water, or chemical solvents that can strip or tarnish the delicate gold gilded surface.
