Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 19th-century France, the hunting style (Style Chasse) cabinet is a two-part storage piece characterised by elaborate, high-relief carvings depicting woodland themes, game animals, and natural foliage. These pieces were historically crafted to showcase trophies and serve as focal storage in dining rooms or countryside estates.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from solid regional hardwoods, particularly dense European oak and walnut. Construction involved traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-dovetailed drawers, and hand-cut glass panes for the upper display sections.

Authentic period examples feature deep, hand-chiseled relief carvings showing subtle variations and tool marks rather than uniform machine production. Look for historical signs of wear such as uneven patination, original brass or iron lock mechanisms, and traditional drawer construction.

Position the piece as an architectural focal point in a dining room, hallway, or study. Contrast its dark oak timber and detailed texture against neutral wall tones, balancing the grand proportions with simple contemporary ceramics or glassware displayed inside.

Keep the wood nourished by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the grain. Remove dust from intricate carvings using a soft-bristled brush, and maintain stable ambient humidity to prevent the solid timber panels from shifting or warping.
