Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Corinthian column table lamps emerged during the Neoclassical revival of the nineteenth century, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture. Originally manufactured as oil or candle lamps, these designs featured fluted shafts and acanthus-leaf capitals, becoming iconic lighting fixtures throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Victorian column lamps were typically constructed from brass, bronze, or copper substrates finished with silver electroplating (EPNS). The interior structure often included cast iron weights within the stepped base to ensure stability when supporting glass or fabric shades.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces usually feature makers marks or EPNS stamps near the base. They display natural oxidisation in the crevices of the carved capital, weighted stepped bases, and evidence of historical conversion from oil or early electrical fitments.

A classical column lamp provides structured contrast when paired with a clean silk or linen drum shade. Position it on a dark wood sideboard, console table, or executive desk alongside modern artwork to balance traditional and contemporary design elements.

Clean silver-plated surfaces using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish sparingly to prevent wearing down the silver layer. Avoid abrasive cleaners, keep electrical components dry, and ensure rewiring is carried out by a qualified electrician to meet modern safety standards.
