Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This miniature oak coffer originates from the 1920 period and reflects a Jacobean style. The piece uses dark brown oak timber with a polished wooden finish. The rectangular hinged lid sits above a front elevation decorated with carved double arches, arcaded panels, and vertical mouldings. The structure rests upon bracket feet beneath a moulded base. The chest measures 43 cm high by 76 cm wide with a 30 cm depth. Suitable for placement atop a sideboard or table within a gentleman's library, the coffer provides compact storage for small personal items or documents. The enclosed storage space opens via the top lid for everyday access while maintaining a traditional decorative presence in a living room, study, or hallway. The sturdy wooden construction ensures stability for placement on flat surfaces, and the piece functions as an ornamental storage box as well as a period decorative accessory for interior settings.

A miniature oak coffer is a scaled-down version of a full-sized wooden chest, historically crafted as an apprentice piece, salesman sample, or desktop receptacle for securing jewellery, personal documents, and small valuables.

Traditional coffers were constructed from solid oak using mortise and tenon joinery, panelled construction, and hand-carved decorative motifs such as arcading and lunettes.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-planed surfaces, irregular peg placement at joinery points, original iron or wooden hinges, and natural age-related oxidisation in the wood grain.

A miniature coffer can be positioned on a sideboard, desk, or open shelving as a functional storage receptacle, introducing historical texture to modern interior spaces.

Maintain oak timber by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically to protect the surface and preserve the natural wood grain.
