Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 19th-century Welsh country pine chest functions as a practical blanket box or coffee table. The honey amber timber displays a prominent grain pattern across the hinged flat lid, front, and sides, complemented by a simple central iron keyhole escutcheon and a solid moulded plinth base at the bottom. The rectangular form stands 46 cm high, 110 cm wide, and 49.5 cm deep, offering ample internal storage space. Placed in a living room, hallway, or bedroom, it serves as a functional surface or tidy storage unit for blankets, linens, and everyday items while bringing rustic farmhouse character to traditional and modern interiors alike.

FAQs

A traditional Welsh pine chest is a utility storage vessel crafted from solid pine timber, constructed throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in rural Wales for holding linens, grain, or household textiles.

These chests were constructed using solid timber boards joined with hand-cut dovetails or lap joints, often featuring iron keyhole escutcheons and resting on a raised plinth base or turned feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, natural wear around hand-forged iron hardware, uneven hand-sawn back panels, and a original waxed or grain-painted patina.

A solid pine coffer functions as storage at the foot of a bed, as an alternative coffee table in a living space, or positioned along an entryway wall.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber finish and protect against moisture loss.
