French Ormolu Mantel Clock by Le Roy & Fils of Paris

Description

A fine and impressive gilt ormolu mantel clock in the Louis XVI style. It has a case embellished with floral and acanthus swags, urns with feather plumes and nesting birds. The case is inset with hand enamelled porcelain panels. The white enamel dial is signed by the Makers,Le Roy & Fils (Sons of Le Roy) It has an 8 day bell striking pendulum movement and is numbered and signed "6750 Le Roy & Fil". It stands on its original giltoodbase that has a velvet lined platform. (France, c. 1860)

Provenance

Le Roy & Fils founder Basile Charles was Clockmaker to Napoleon. They had retail outlets in Palais Royal and 296 Regent Street, London.

Current Condition

The case gilding is in pristine, original conditiion. The porcelain panels are in perfect condition. The movement has been serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months.
