Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scent bottles became essential personal items during the Victorian era, used to carry liquid perfumes, essential oils, or smelling salts. As production techniques advanced in the late nineteenth century, silversmiths and glassmakers collaborated to create elaborate vanity accessories featuring hallmarked silver collars and decorative cut glass.

Victorian scent bottles were typically constructed from lead crystal or coloured glass, such as cobalt blue, ruby, or amethyst. The tops, collars, and hinged caps were commonly crafted from sterling silver or silver gilt, often featuring repousse, chased, or engraved detailing.

Authentic British silver scent bottles from the Victorian era display full hallmarks on the silver mounts, including the makers mark, lion passant for sterling silver, town mark, and date letter. Additionally, period glass will show signs of hand-faceting or hand-blowing, such as minor variations in the cut facets or a ground pontil mark.

Small antique glass bottles make effective accents when grouped on a mirrored tray atop a bedroom dressing table or bathroom vanity. Arranging them alongside complementary silver vanity items or small glass vessels creates a layered, curio-style display.

The glass body should be wiped gently with a soft, damp microfibre cloth, avoiding submersion in warm water if the stopper or interior mechanism is delicate. Silver mounts should be cleaned using a specialist silver polishing cloth rather than liquid dips, which can seep into joints and damage the glass.
