A Scottish regulator longcase clock. A mahogany case with an arched pediment with a hatch to assist in the pendulum hanging. A glass front with the original locking door mechanism and key. A heavy pendulum bob with a decorative glass reading ''WILLIAM BARR GLASGOW 1863'' and ''CORRECT GREENWICH TIME''. A wooden pendulum rod with a high quality fixing to the block. A silvered plaque behind the pendulum for the pendulum swing accuracy.
 
A fine quality, precision 8-day duration, single weight mechanism. Maintaining power and a dead-beat escapement. Circa 1863.
 
William Barr of Glasgow is listed in Whytes'' ''Scottish Watch and Clockmakers'' book as working from 1859. The ''Correct Greenwich Time'' on the pendulum was seen on some Scottish regulators in the Victorian period as railways connected the U.K. as telegraphic time signals were established.
