S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated these Georgian Mahogany Bedside Tables to the 18th Century.

An exceptional example of the stereotypical Georgian tray top commode, or bedside night table, this fabulous matched pair of bedside tables have clearly been well loved and cherished throughout the many years of their lives. As is very common they have, at some point in their history, been matched into a pair, however unlike the vast majority of matched pairs you will find, there are only a few discernible differences between the two without extreme close inspection.
For reference, the main differences which we have been able to find is a very small difference in the height where the drawer and door meet, a small difference in the size of the handles, a chunkier finish to the roundel decoration on the corners of the top and also one is 3/4 inch deeper than the other.

This form of bedside table continues to prove extremely popular for a whole host of reasons, including the fact they are so sturdy when compared to more traditional, smaller bedside tables. They also offer a large amount of storage and the tray type tops mean it is much less likely that anything placed on the tops will get accidentally knocked over. These also have the up and over type cupboard door which is generally regarded as by far the most desirable design.

As with all the items which we offer for sale this pair of bedside tables have been inspected by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale, meaning they are ready for immediate placement within the home.
