A superb Victorian Scottish drumhead grandfather clock in richly figured mahogany. The 8-day movement strikes the hour on a bell and is signed by Andrew Thom of Airdrie (listed in Clockmakers & Watchmakers of Scotland, 1892–96).
The carved drumhead hood sits above a fine mahogany case with a lockable door. The gilt dial features black Roman numerals, a decorative floral centre, and subsidiary seconds and calendar dials.
With excellent colour, elegant proportions, and only light age-related marks, this impressive clock is in good working order and remains a striking statement piece of real quality.
All measurements are done to the widest point .
