Victorian cranberry glass is a type of translucent pinkish-red glass coloured with gold chloride, highly popular during the Victorian era for luxury tableware and decorative vanity objects.

These items typically combine hand-blown glass with hallmarked sterling silver mounts, often decorated with floral or foliate engravings and chased details.

Authenticity is verified by checking for clear sterling silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, year, and maker, alongside period-correct glass blowing pontil marks and craftsmanship.

Display the piece on a mirrored tray, dressing table, or mantelpiece alongside other small vintage collectables to add a touch of historical colour and texture.

Clean the glass gently with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, and use a specialist silver cloth carefully on the mounts to preserve the patina.
