Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Old Sheffield Plate refers to a historical process developed in the 18th century where a layer of sterling silver was fused onto a copper ingot before being rolled into sheets and crafted into hollowware.

Georgian and Regency coffee pots were constructed using fused silver on copper or sterling silver, often featuring carved hardwoods such as ebony or fruitwood for heat-resistant handles and lid finials.

Authentic pieces often show slight copper exposure, known as bleeding, on high-wear areas, alongside turned-over wire edges, applied silver borders, and hand-swaged seams rather than modern electroplating marks.

Display the coffee pot as a decorative accent on a dining room sideboard, tray table, or open kitchen shelving alongside contemporary ceramic tableware to create contrast.

Wash with warm water and mild soap, then polish gently using a non-abrasive silver foam or cloth, avoiding aggressive polishes that can wear down the fused silver layer to the copper beneath.
