A Georgian glass stormlamp, often referred to as a hurricane shade, was designed during the 18th century to protect candle flames from drafts in dining rooms and halls.

Pieces from this period were typically hand-blown using lead or potash glass, often featuring rough pontil marks on the base and natural imperfections such as tiny air bubbles.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics of early free-blown glass manufacturing, including varying wall thicknesses, internal striations, and an authentic age-related patina with minor surface wear.

This versatile glass object can be utilised as a candle holder on a dining table or repurposed as a display vase for botanical arrangements to add historical texture to modern schemes.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using tepid water and a mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives or sudden temperature changes to preserve the delicate historical material.
