Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often combined lighter, simpler forms influenced by eighteenth-century designs with practical domestic utility.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly utilised solid timbers such as oak, mahogany, and walnut, frequently featuring quarter-sawn oak with prominent medullary rays.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate hardware like brass drop handles, traditional timber joinery such as dovetails, and signs of age-related patina on the wood surfaces.

Placing a rich wooden cabinet within a neutral, modern hallway adds texture and warmth, contrasting clean architectural lines with historical craftsmanship.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodically applying a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the wood and preserve its finish.
