Georgian glassware, produced during the reigns of the Kings George from 1714 to 1830, is characterised by heavy lead content, deep rich colours such as cobalt blue, and hand-blown or early pressed manufacturing techniques.

Egg cups from this period were commonly crafted from hand-blown or molded glass, silver, ceramics, and treen wood, with cobalt glass prized for its vibrant metallic oxide colouring.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface abrasions consistent with age, small trapped air bubbles within the glass matrix, and variations in wall thickness typical of hand-craftsmanship.

Antique glass can be displayed in open shelving units, grouped on sideboards by colour, or utilised in tablescapes to introduce historic texture and rich tones into modern spaces.

Wash antique glass by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh abrasive sponges to protect the historic surface finish.
