We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Cranberry glass is a red or pink transparent glass created by adding gold chloride to the molten glass batch. It gained significant popularity during the Victorian era and the nineteenth century, particularly in Great Britain and France, where it was utilised for decorative tableware and vanity items.

These items are crafted from lead glass coloured with gold oxide, frequently combined with metal mounts such as brass or gilt bronze hinges. Artisans often applied enamel decoration by hand using opaque white and gilt pigments to create floral or geometric motifs before firing the piece to fix the design.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit small surface imperfections, pontil marks on the base, and hand-applied enamel work with slight variations. The metal mounts should show appropriate signs of age, such as gentle patina and oxidation, rather than uniform modern plating.

Such decorative objects work effectively when placed on surface tops where light can pass through the translucent glass, casting coloured hues. They provide a focal point on dressing tables, mantelpieces, or inside glass-fronted cabinets alongside neutral ceramics or metals.

Clean the glass gently using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent with a soft cloth. Avoid submerging items with metal mounts or painted enamel for extended periods, and do not use harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scouring pads.
