1880 (circa) French Meissen Porcelain Mantel Clock.
This is a Meissen porcelain figural mantel clock, featuring polychrome decoration and gilt accents. The clock is constructed from white glazed porcelain with elaborate, applied floral encrustations and rocaille molding across its surface. The primary body houses a circular clock face with black Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, beneath a glass bezel set in a brass or gold-toned metal surround. The dial is fitted with two serpentine hands.
The clock''s base extends into scrolling feet and features two figural representations, a lady on the left and a gentleman on the right, both in period costume, holding floral garlands. The figures are painted in pastel shades of pink, blue, green, and yellow. The top of the clock case is tiered, surmounted by an urn-shaped finial adorned with painted birds, gilt details, and further applied flowers. The overall color palette is dominated by whites, greens, and
...vibrant pink, yellow, and blue flowers.
