Georgian cut glass emerged during the 18th and early 19th centuries, characterised by heavy lead content, deep brilliant-cut facets, and intricate geometric patterns designed to reflect candlelight.

These items were traditionally made from heavy flint glass, commonly known as lead crystal, which provided the high refractive index and weight necessary for deep hand-cutting.

Authenticity is identified by examining the polish of the cuts, the presence of pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, and the distinctive greyish hue and heft of early lead glass.

This piece can be displayed on a sideboard, dining table, or open shelving as a functional decorative object that introduces period texture and reflective clarity to a contemporary space.

Antique crystal should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges, and dried immediately with a lint-free cloth.
