Description

These bedside cabinets are in good condition. We have professionally stripped and restored them and then waxed them in a lovely antique brown bri wax giving them a stunning patina. The dealer I bought them off has sealed the tops so the tops are waterproof.

The bedside cabinets would look well either side of a double bed in a large bedroom amongst similar antique pine furniture.

The bedside cabinets stand on a square plinth supporting the main section. There are four graduated drawers. The drawers have their original round turned wooden knobs which is a nice feature. They also have dovetail joints and are pine lined. The tops are in good condition with a slight bull nosed edge.

The height is 76cm, the width is 38cm and the depth is 39cm.

Delivery Terms

WE OFFER FREE DELIVERY TO ENGLAND, WALES, AND SCOTLAND (BELOW PERTH)

Shipping /delivery is equally as important to us as the item of furniture itself. It is simple; we deliver everything personally in England / Wales so this way we are 100% sure that the item / furniture reaches our customers safe and sound. We NEVER use couriers. Delivery is generally within 7-14 days of purchase. We guarantee delivery anywhere in England / Wales within 21 days of purchase.

Deliveries to Scotland as far north as Perth are guaranteed within 6 weeks of purchase. If delivery is required above Perth in Scotland please contact James on 07957 392 074 or

james@davidhuntantiques.com for a price.

Deliveries are either carried out by David or James as one member of the team is required to stay in the warehouse, therefore we do require assistance from the van into your hallway with the item of furniture. We have set delivery days and once the van is loaded (a day prior to delivery) David will call customers to arrange a two hour delivery time slot. Customers will also receive a text when delivery is 30 minutes away.

It is really helpful if customers can provide their ‘what3words’ location to make delivery as smooth

as possible, especially properties in rural locations.

Ireland Deliveries

We do use a very good courier company called DVM Service to deliver goods to Ireland. We ask the customer to pay this company direct for the delivery charge and we then liaise with DVM regarding collection of a customer’s item of furniture to be shipped to Ireland.

Europe & Rest of the World

We do not ship to Europe or the Rest of the World.

FAQs

During the Victorian era, utility and functional bedroom furniture became increasingly common in middle-class homes as domestic spaces were organised into more specialised rooms. Pine, being an accessible and resilient softwood, was frequently utilised for secondary bedroom furnishings, often finished with a wax coating to protect the timber.

These cabinets are traditionally constructed from solid pine timber, utilising standard period joinery such as dovetail joints for the drawers and pegged or nailed assembly for the carcase. They typically feature turned wooden knobs and a hand-waxed surface finish that highlights the natural grain and knots of the softwood.

Authentic Victorian pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage lines, and the use of hand-forged or early machine-made iron hardware. Additionally, genuine age is often indicated by natural patina, oxidisation within the drawer interiors, and historical wear patterns consistent with use.

Antique pine pieces introduce warmth and textural contrast to contemporary schemes, pairing well with neutral plastered walls, crisp white linens, and minimalist lighting fixtures. Their versatile honey-toned wood complements both industrial metal accents and clean, scandi-inspired minimalist decor.

Waxed pine should be kept away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent the timber from drying out or warping. Maintenance involves occasional dusting with a soft, dry cloth and the periodic application of a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the wood and maintain its protective finish.
