Fine Edwardian Silver Plated Cruet Set by William Hutton & Sons, C.1900

1900 - 1920
Description

An elegant three-piece cruet set by the highly regarded firm William Hutton & Sons, Sheffield, dating from the opening years of the 20th century.

The shaped silver-plated base stands on three rounded feet and rises to a sculptural loop handle. It supports three original cut-glass containers: open salt, pepper shaker and mustard pot, all of conforming faceted form with vertical cut panels. The mustard pot retains its original silver-plated spoon.

William Hutton & Sons were among the leading British producers of silver and electroplate throughout the 19th and early 20th century, supplying goods to the fashionable middle-class and luxury markets. This cruet set is a particularly attractive example of their Edwardian domestic silver, combining practicality with refined design.
