Edwardian dressing table wares typically combine heavy cut or pressed glass bases with hallmarked sterling silver lids, often featuring neoclassical, floral, or ribbon motifs popular during the early 20th century.

These jars were primarily constructed from lead crystal, bohemian glass, or coloured glass bases, paired with sterling silver caps manufactured by specialist silversmiths.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks stamped on the silver rim or lid, typically including the makers mark, the town mark for assay offices such as Birmingham, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production.

Positioning the jar on a dressing table, mantelpiece, or open bathroom counter adds a touch of historical craftsmanship and reflective metallic sheen to modern spaces.

Clean the glass base with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh abrasives. Polish the silver components gently with a dedicated microfibre silver cloth to preserve the patina and hallmarks.
