Caddy spoons were specialised utensils designed during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries to measure loose tea leaves from a caddy into a teapot.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver, often featuring detailed hand-stamped texturing, repousse work, or casting, finished with traditional hallmarks.

Authenticity is verified by checking for official British assay office hallmarks, makers marks, and period-appropriate weight, wear patterns, and manufacturing methods.

Such items can be displayed on a surface tray, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or styled alongside other silverware on a sideboard to add historical detail.

Preservation requires storing items in a dry, tarnish-resistant environment and cleaning them infrequently with a specialist non-abrasive silver cloth to protect the metal.
