Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III furniture encompasses pieces made during the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820. This era saw a transition from the heavy styles of early 18th-century design towards neoclassical elegance, influenced by designers such as Thomas Chippendale, George Hepplewhite, and Thomas Sheraton.

Traditional linen presses are typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany or oak, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction and pegged mortise and tenon joints in the frame. Secondary woods like pine or oak are commonly used for drawer linings and internal shelving.

Authentic pieces from the 18th century display hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks, hand-cut dovetails, and shrinkage cracks consistent with aged timber. Original brass hardware, hand-blown glass if glazed, and the absence of modern machine screws or plywood further verify authenticity.

An antique linen press serves as a striking focal point in a modern bedroom or hallway. Pairing its rich, dark wood tones with minimalist decor, neutral wall colours, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast that highlights the craftsmanship without overwhelming the space.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the wood from warping or fading. Maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax periodically and avoiding silicone-based commercial polishes that can degrade the patina over time.
