FAQs

Art Deco tableware emerged during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric forms, stylised motifs, and a combination of traditional and modern materials like silver plate and glass.

Traditional biscuit barrels frequently utilised a combination of silver-plated frames, cut or moulded glass bodies, and sometimes ceramic inserts with hinged or lifting lids.

Authentic pieces typically feature makers marks, EPNS or silver plate stamps on the base, weight typical of genuine metal and glass, and natural patination indicative of age.

These items serve as reflective accent pieces on sideboards or coffee tables, adding metallic sheen and historical texture to contemporary or transitional schemes.

Clean silver plate gently with a specialist non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips, and wash glass components in lukewarm soapy water.
