Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian sterling silver cream jugs typically feature ornate detailing, such as scrolled handles, scalloped rims, and tripod cabriole feet. Mid-19th-century pieces reflect a revival of earlier Rococo motifs combined with substantial British silver craft.

These items were wrought from standard sterling silver (925 fineness), shaped using raised silversmithing techniques, and finished with cast embellishments such as solder-attached legs and handles.

Authentic pieces feature a complete set of British hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, the town mark for the Chester Assay Office, a specific date letter corresponding to 1864, and a makers stamp.

Silver jugs can be displayed as part of a dining table scape, grouped with other hollowware on a sideboard, or used on a drinks tray as refined decorative accents.

Clean silver using a non-abrasive silver polish applied with a soft cotton cloth, gently buffing along the metal surface before washing thoroughly in warm water and drying immediately to prevent oxidisation.
