Ormolu and Porcelain Panel Mantel Clock

19th century
Description

An impressive, high quality, French Louis XV style gilt ormolu mantel clock, having an ornate case, the top surmounted by a cast pineapple and the case with pronounced acanthus scroll corners and blind fret side panels. It has inset blue enamel porcelain panels and a matching dial depicting classical French scene of a courting couple and playing cupids. The 8 day pendulum movement strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Made by Japy Frere.(JAPY FRERES, BEAUCOURT 1776-c.1910) Originally retail by Army and Navy stores.

Current Condition

The case is in superb originial condition and has just been cleaned. The porcelain panels are perfect. The movement has been serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months.
