Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nineteenth-century Swedish birch furniture is recognised for its use of native satin or flame birch, featuring shimmering grain patterns. Influenced by Biedermeier and Neoclassical styles, these pieces combine clean architectural lines with functional, solid construction suited to country interiors.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid softwood frames veneered with highly figured satin birch, or constructed the piece entirely from solid native birch. Joints were traditionally hand-cut with dovetails, and interiors often included fitted pine shelving.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, original lock mechanisms with cut brass or iron escutcheons, and natural wear along the base and interior shelf supports. The veneer should display genuine age-related patination without modern synthetic lacquers.

A Swedish birch cupboard functions well as a focal storage piece in a hallway, dining space, or bedroom. Its light golden timber complements neutral colour schemes, minimalist Scandinavian decor, and mixed-period curated spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year along the direction of the wood grain. Avoid placing the cupboard near direct heat sources or in fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer movement.
