Celery vases became extremely popular in nineteenth-century dining culture when celery was considered a high-status vegetable served upright in dedicated receptacles at the centre of the table.

These items were typically made from lead crystal or heavy flint glass, shaped using a combination of mold-blowing and hand-cutting techniques to create deep geometric patterns.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-polished facets, slight irregularities indicating manual production, a high lead content weight, and minor base wear consistent with age.

They can be utilised as traditional floral vases on a sideboard, displayed openly within a glass-fronted cabinet, or used to hold long-stemmed decorative objects.

Wash by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives and sudden temperature changes to protect the delicate crystal surface.
