Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply beeswax sparingly to maintain the patinated veneer. Porcelain mounts should be wiped gently with a microfibre cloth, keeping moisture and cleaning solutions away from the surrounding wood and brass frame.

A Victorian corner cabinet can serve as a functional focal point in an unused corner, hallway, or dining area. Combining dark walnut tones with contemporary neutral wall colours creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, natural oxidation on unvarnished secondary timbers, and thin, hand-cut veneers. Examination of the back reveals right-angle structural framing made from hand-sawn boards fitted with period iron or brass fastenings.

Cabinetmakers favoured figured walnut veneers, complemented by boxwood and ebony for geometric marquetry and delicate stringing. Secondary structures were generally constructed from native softwoods such as pine, while decorative accents included painted porcelain mounts and brass hardware.

Victorian corner cabinets were designed during the 19th century to utilise architectural corners while providing enclosed storage. Often influenced by French revivalist styles, these cabinets feature rich wood veneers, classical decorative motifs, fine stringing, and mounted porcelain details.
