A Fine French Repeating Carriage Clock

Description

A handsome and impressive late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in perfect working order. The “Corinthian Column” CASE is cast and gilded with bevelled glass panels to the front; all sides and the top, whilst the 8-day MOVEMENT, which retains its original lever platform escapement, strikes the hours and half hours melodiously on a gong, repeating the hours at will via the upper button. The gilded ‘masked’ white enamel DIAL is perfect as are the original blued steel ‘spade’ hands.

This good Carriage Clock is complete with the original leather-covered travelling case (showing its age a little!) and numbered winding key. Keeps excellent time and guaranteed for two years. 6.5ins high (handle down); 4.5ins wide; 4ins deep. (16 x 11 x 9.5cms) French c1880-1890.
