Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Jugendstil is the German manifestation of the Art Nouveau movement, prominent from the late 19th century through to the First World War, characterised by organic, flowing lines inspired by natural forms.

An 800 silver hallmark indicates that the item is composed of 80 parts pure silver out of 1,000 parts total mass, which was a standard legal standard for continental European silver during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Authentic pieces typically feature manufacturer stamps alongside national standard marks, such as the German crescent moon and crown symbol introduced in 1888, denoting silver of at least 800 fineness.

Antique silver utensils add historical texture and refined contrast when paired with minimalist modern white porcelain dinnerware or traditional tablescapes.

Antique silver should be washed gently in warm water with mild soap, dried thoroughly with a soft cloth, and polished sparingly with a non-abrasive silver cream to preserve the underlying metal and any original patination.
