FAQs

Art Deco is a design movement that emerged in France during the 1910s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and luxurious materials such as burr walnut, chrome, and exotic veneers.

Art Deco furniture makers frequently used fine hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, and macassar ebony, often highlighted with contrasting veneers, chrome handles, and Bakelite details.

Authentic pieces typically feature distinctive geometric silhouettes, book-matched veneer patterns displaying dramatic grain movement, original metal hardware, and construction methods consistent with the 1920s to 1940s.

These cabinets work well as contrasting statement pieces in minimalist or contemporary bedrooms, pairing effectively with neutral walls, metallic accents, and clean-lined modern lighting.

Maintain walnut surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture, and occasionally applying appropriate furniture wax to nourish the wood.
