A superb mid-18th century firing glass with a round funnel bowl above a plain stem and thick firing foot.

Date & Origin

England, c1750. Period of George II.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips, cracks, or restoration

Dimensions

Height: 9.5 cm

Rim diameter: 5.2 cm

Foot diameter: 5.8 cm.

Historical Context

In 1760 John Michell suggests earthquakes are caused by one layer of rocks rubbing against another.
