Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A military campaign secretaire chest is a modular piece of furniture designed for portability, featuring dismantlable sections, flush brass fittings, and an integrated drop-front writing desk used by naval and army officers during transit.

These pieces were typically constructed from durable hardwoods such as mahogany or teak, reinforced with flush brass corner straps, recessed handles, and heavy-duty side carrying handles to withstand transport.

Authentic examples feature flush-mounted brass hardware set smoothly into the timber, brass screw construction, two-part modular splitting frames, and original iron or brass lever locks.

Place this piece in a home office, hallway, or living space as a focal point, pairing its rich mahogany tone with structured leather seating, brass accent lighting, and contemporary artwork.

Maintain the wood by applying a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain annually, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources, and gently cleaning brass mountings with a dry cloth.
