Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

A handsome tabouret French court stool of elegant form and carved, tapering column supports, unified by an ornate floral basket stretcher with original water gilding. The tapestry upholstery is probably early 20th century.

We believe the stool to be early to mid 19th century, the underside reveals an early frame with evidence of early nails from previous upholstery. The stool sits well and structurally excellent, with no signs of repair, loss or distress.

Please note the cushion has a tear, see images, the cushion is freely detachable from the stool seat, the underside webbing straps may benefit from refixing, these are surface decoration and sold as it is to allow the buyer to decide.

A fine quality French antique stool of charming character and a timeworn patination. A useable antique stool with considerable decorative appeal, an interior design piece that can enhance a classic or contemporary space.
