Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian enamelled lustre glass refers to decorative glassware produced during the late nineteenth century featuring hand-painted enamel decoration and a metallic iridescent coating. The technique combines painted enamel motifs, often floral, with metallic salts sprayed onto hot glass to create a shimmering surface finish.

Pieces were typically hand-blown from soda-lime or lead glass before an iridescent lustre wash was applied. Artisans then painted detailed designs onto the cooled glass using powdered glass enamels mixed with oil, after which the vessel was refired in a low-temperature muffle kiln to permanently fuse the enamel to the surface.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-crafting, such as an applied handle, slight asymmetry, or a ground pontil mark on the base. The enamel painting should show slight elevation on the glass surface, and the iridescent sheen will exhibit natural variations consistent with period manufacturing techniques.

Small antique glass jugs can be styled as decorative accent pieces on display shelving, sideboards, or window sills where natural light highlights the iridescent sheen. They also function well as small flower vases for minimalist floral arrangements or as part of a curated glass collection.

Enamelled glass should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild dish liquid. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, or dishwashers, as these can strip the metallic lustre layer and damage delicate hand-painted enamel work.
