Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Adam style Georgian silver, prominent during the late 18th century, relies on Neoclassical architectural principles inspired by ancient Greek and Roman design. Common features include urn-shaped bodies, pierced fretwork, oval medallions, rams heads, swags, and leaf motifs.

Georgian sugar and sweetmeat baskets were primarily constructed from sterling silver or silver plate, often featuring pierced work to reduce metal weight. They were frequently fitted with removable coloured glass liners, typically in cobalt blue, to hold contents safely without corroding the metal.

Authenticity can be verified by examining the British hallmarks stamped on the body and handle, which denote the silver purity, maker, location, and date letter. Construction markers such as hand-pierced detailing, solder joins, and authentic wear patterns on the base and swing handle joints also confirm age.

A Georgian silver basket serves as a decorative focal point on a dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece. It can be displayed independently as an architectural sculpture or integrated into a display alongside other period glass and metal objects.

Clean the silver portion using a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to avoid build-up in detailed fretwork. Wash the glass liner separately in warm soapy water using a mild detergent, ensuring it is completely dry before reinserting it into the silver frame.
