Georgian Jacobite Facet Cut Stem Wine Glass

This is a Georgian, English, cut and polished facet cut stem wine glass dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1770, and of probable Jacobite significance.
 
The glass is in excellent condition. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
 
 
The glass has a rounded bucket-shaped bowl measuring 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the everted rim. The bowl is cut with two band of olives above a cut base, and sits on a hexagonally facet cut stem with a medial knop. The stem leads to a cut foot which measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter and is in the form of a six-sided rose. The belief is that these glasses were used by Jacobite supporters who indicated their allegiance this way; the foot being seen by other as they tipped their glass and drank from it.
